FFETA AGM takes place on 10 November

At the AGM held on 10 November 2022, the entire committee stood down after their three year term of office, which came into being in 2019. Three of the existing committee members did not stand again, but this was counter balanced by three new appointments.

Our existing Chair, Belinda van der Merwe, had already indicated that she would not stand again as Chair. Taking over from her is Pre Govender of Fire Check, who has been Vice Chair for the past three years. Sean Okhuysen of Woodlands, who was our previous Treasurer, takes over as Vice Chair, and the new Treasurer is Neil Tyler of Cease Fire, who is also newly appointed to the committee so has literally been thrown in at the deep end.

There is still one spot vacant on our committee. So if any of you believe you can bring something of value to the committee, please feel free to contact Rosemary at the administration office. We can co-opt people during the year and then, with space available, they can be officially appointed at the next AGM. 2023 sees an exciting year for the Committee who are busy putting plans in place to celebrate FFETA’s 50th birthday

We say goodbye to Dan Dibden of Transfire, Brad Moir of East Rand Fire and, last but not least in the slightest, Jeremy Kellett who is standing down after 36 years on the FFETA committee, spending 11 or more of those as the Chairman. He will be sorely missed by all.

Our Auditors were in attendance and gave us a clean bill of health. Click here for the Minutes of the AGM as well as the Chair’s report.
